FINAL TRANSITION
By Chaplain James A. Brown
My name is James A. Brown. I am a chaplain whose ministry is that of helping those who are in their final days of transition. It has been in my heart since my days of the Vietnam War that no one should be alone at their time of death. I have found out that it does not matter whether it was on the battlefields of war or in a hospital, auto accident, or someone being murdered in an unlawful act. There is a common thread that they do not want to be alone and will call out to the ones closest to them. I try to explain that, according to the Bible, it ways that death is a separation of the soul from the body (our human body), and a spiritual death upon which the spirit is separated from God. This is the one singular act that everyone, no matter how rich or poor one is, this decision has to be made. This Covid-19 pandemic makes it a lot harder to be able to comfort loved ones at their time of separation. But I, as being a chaplain, will try to make this separation as comfortable as possible.
